Description: The Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant works closely with the ministerial staff and Finance Chair / Treasurer to support the mission, vision and values of the church. This person provides intermediate level clerical accounting and conducts general business operations of the church. Essential functions include but are not limited to: budget and financial statement analysis, journal entries, accounts payable, payroll and benefits, and contribution accounting.
This is a part time position of 22 hours per week Monday through Thursday. Benefits commensurate with part time hours worked. Compensation is $20-$22 per hour based on education and experience.
Preferred Education: AA or better in accounting, finance or business administration
Preferred Experience: Two years of experience with all nonprofit or a combination of general business and nonprofit which covers all aspects of accounting cycle procedures
Strong initiative and self-motivation
Clear communication in both written and oral form
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Proficient in reconciling differences within a record keeping system
Skill in preparing, understanding and maintaining accurate records and reports
Strong and proficient computer skills in using accounting software, Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices and financial record keeping
